The Cleveland Browns announced Thursday they have hired former Washington Redskins assistant coaches Mike McDaniel and Richard Hightower for positions on their coaching staff.
The two coaches will be reunited with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who spent the last four seasons with the Redskins. The Browns officially introduced Shanahan at a press conference Thursday morning.
McDaniel spent the last three seasons with the Redskins, first as an offensive assistant before becoming the wide receivers coach for 2013. He will serve in the same role with the Browns.
Hightower was with the Redskins the last four seasons, first as the assistant special teams coach and then as the assistant defensive backs coach, and will be an offensive quality control coach in Cleveland.
Shanahan and McDaniel were among the assistant coaches fired along with coach Mike Shanahan on Dec. 30. Hightower was not retained by new Redskins coach Jay Gruden.
