Several Prince George's County leaders are expected to endorse Derrick Leon Davis in the race to replace former County Council member Leslie Johnson, a Davis spokesman said Monday.
George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said during opening statements Monday that Richmond Phillips killed the two because he didn't want to pay child support.
"Unfortunately, Maryland does not have a law that makes it expressly illegal for a person to communicate generalized threats over the telephone," Ms. Alsobrooks said, adding that she plans to lobby lawmakers in Annapolis next year about establishing such a law. "He ought to be facing felony charges, not just misdemeanor charges."
